I was just wondering on what peoples opinion of the guards are. I am thinking of joining them as an officer but if i do later down the track i dont know which to join it's a toss up between the irish or the coldstream guards is there any diferance in what the do? and is there anyon e on the forum ...

i don't know if anyone has mentiond this yet but i couldn't be stuffed reading everyones reply. the rangers were the first real spec force back in (fell free to correct me on this) C. 17th when we wre fighting the frogs and the indians in america. hear is somthing i riped off the net...

yeah they are recruting civvies know but only for 4RAR commando not SAS although the commandos are very similar to the sas but the are only part-timers and preform sas like roles but when a larger force is requierd.

i think the standards will fall now that they are recruting civvies and they should ...

There were a few cases involving the Australian sas in afghanatan when they were clearing out caves but there wasnt a commissioned officer present present so they coulden't be recomended for one.
