It was a genuine question..... honest! :D

I also read that you have to do SAS selection before you can do the SBS selection (First Into Action (SBS) by Duncan Falconer). Is that still the case?

GPW, misinterpretation on your part if I recall the book correctly, although I'm no expert; certainly selection is now joint, it's only continuation training after badging that separates the two services.

Fusilier, apologies, getting wound up with senseless posts sometimes causes sense of humour failure

Bit of a weird one, the book says:

"Today, an SBS rank has to pass the SAS selection before he can move on and attempt SBS selection. On passing the SAS selection, he is technically qualified to join the SAS and therefore to receive thier higher pay. By continuing on and passing for the SBS, a more selective process involving diving, boating and MAT training, he qualifies for less money. And if he fails to get into the SBS he can always go back to the SAS."

Bit harsh on the SBS blokes, less money??? :o

Fusilier, a credible effort at encouraging a second bite, sadly the fly's looking a little more dead

GPW, in that case things have somewhat changed, although I don't know all the ins and outs of it Selection for both services is now joint as far as I'm aware.

passed everything but my run, came in at 10:57 lolz, we were told we would do the run after dinner and i had flat soled trainers on when we started and didnt have chance to put my running trainers on. guess i only have myself to blame as i only been running once and smoking aswell which is stopping right now. im early on in the app process though so i'll be running 5 times a week now. should be able to get it right down before my interview on 10th june. :/
