I was considering possibly aiming for a Commission in the Corps several years down the line fi I felt it was the right direction...would a tattoo on the forearm prevent me gaining a Commission? I heard before that a tattoo on the forearm would not be a problem but Ro55 told me that NCOs applying for a Commission with forearm tattoos would not be allowed...

rabby wrote:ach! It apears I've been had! Looks like you are right once again, according to the online translator, tatoo did not compute. :-?
And it also seems that gullible is in the dictionary, so you are wrong on that one. :D
In Russian it isn't spelt the same (i know it sounds stupid but bear with me...) cos there was that lesbo girl groop from Russia called tatu.. try that... Cos it would make sense then...

I'm only gonna get one tattoo.....that is 'if/when' I pass out after the 32 weeks training. I will have either the Marines Crest or the Commando Dagger, with the date of my pass out parade under it on my arm (high up my arm).

I personally dont have anything against tatoos; they express what is dear to some people which is fine.

However, it just went through my mind that if you ever wanted to go into the SF later in life and you are being interrogated, the tatoos do tell alot about you and could be a real liability? Or even if you were not SF but on an undercover mission pretending to be someone else, and you had a phat 'I am a Royal Marines Commando' tat on your back, you would be f*ck'd if someone found you out.

Just a thought.

As I understand it you are not allowed to join SF if you have a tatoo of your regiment anywhere on your body.

Good point made about the interrogation I had often wondered about that one, I have a tribal type tattoo high up on my right bicep I dont suppose that would make to much of a diffrence to SF service?

I knew of an ex-SF guy who had eyes on his arse cheeks so there u go!
