Passed ASDC today!

Post by Stinky »

Yeeep, I had a bit of a problem with my interview because of a mis-understanding, but lucky the interviewer let me get away with it because of my scores on everything else I think... either way I am through! :D

Am I in the right or wrong in thinking this, this was the mis-understanding...
I only had one job choice which was infantry, the interviewer saw this as a bad thing because he thought it meant I had put no thought into it where as I saw it as if I put 3 choices down then I didn't really care, any one with do kind of thing?

I think that was a bloody good answer!

I chose 3 to begin with but 2 of them I couldnt do because of gcse grades, so I am left with 1 choice, so hopefully it will all work out.

btw - in the interview, do they have the original application that they work from or do the army office inform them of your job choice(s)?

Nice one pal!

I had the exact same aswell for my job choices. I only had 1 which was the infantry, but my interviewer was fine with that since I thats all I wanted to do and had done the research of the particular regiment I want to join.

Told ya you'd breeze through the fitness its not as hard as you think, what was your run time?

So when you hoping to get into basic?

Good job Stinky, into the Riffles I assume? If I remember right, they have lovely sky-blue trackies to wear around camp while in recruits, could be very useful if you need to hide from a shortarse DS.

Know when are you off up to Catterick?

Sarastro The Rifles Tracksuits are green and black, Queens & Scots Div have the blue ones IIRC.

I've heard quite a few people mention about only having one job choice was seen as the "wrong attitude" I only had one choice on my application form though and no one ever mentioned anything about it so I guess it depends on the person who's dealing with you.

Anyway, congratulations Stinky and good luck.

Good job on passing ADSC. Which ADSC did you got to?

With regards to the 3 job selections, I think its down to the fact that if you didnt 'make the grade' for your first choice (yours being infantry) then you would already know what you would like to do in the army. I suppose its really just to save time for the recruiter!

I went to Lichfield, I am going to phone up the AFCO today and ask how long I have to wait, hopfully not long. My run time was 10.2something, I actully didn't think the fitness matters, it's just your personality. We had some 24 year old Welsh guy whom everyone knew, number 25, who was not so bright and very unfit. He put no effort into the fitness what so ever, he did 1 pull-up and just jumped off, he didn't pass the 'lift the bar' test, it only counted as a pass because the instructer lifted it the rest of the way for him and I think he came last on the run. On the jerry can lift he asks the instructer when he was about to drop them 'Can I...' 'NO!'. He always tried to make a 4th rank and then never knew which side of the rank to join, Instructer 'Ok guys stay here', 25 follows, instructer 'GET BACK!', 'Oh, I thought you said to follow you'. So if you are quite unfit don't worry it's just down to your personality really .

You hoping to get in as early as possible? Or do you want to wait for a month or so?

I have my date for the 14 November :D! It was interview questions, why do you want to join the army, what do you like about the army, what part do you want to join, what specialized roles are there, etc.

Ha! I'll see you up there a week or so afterwards. We'll be the ones looking wasted & being run to the front of the mess queue.
