Theres a bit of a difference between the 2 of them but i just cant make up my mind, any Advice ?
Please take your time to decide which branch you want to join. As you know the Marine is the first they call to fight and the Army follows behind them. I am not sure how determined you are about joining the military but the ultimate decision is yours. Either way you will see direct combat without a shadow of a doubt.
I would have to dispute what you're saying mate. The army and marines have different roles. They certainly don't follow each other.

Of course it should be pointed out that the guy's post was ages ago. A mistake I made myself.

That is why I stated that he will see direct combat in either branch of the military. Do you agree?

It depends entirely upon his job. What I didn't agree with was the assertion that the marines are always first in.

You mentioned the Army always following the Marines into battle...

This year a 3 para battlegroup is going into Southern Afghanistan as part of the first British troops ever to go into the area. When our tour finishes we are handing over to 3 Commando Brigade. :P

I had this same problem a while back, my father was a bootneck.. so guess i always wanted to be a royal marine. But i seriously looked into it and there are so many more benifits in the ARMY. Promotion in the marines is a fooking killer. You have to repeat your commando course! Y dont you join the ARMY royal artillary and apply for 29 commando. This is based in plymouth, you have to do you commando course, you get the green beret and u support the royal marines. Only difference is.. you do the whole thing in six weeks :) now.. that is hard work! But i suggest you look at the benifits in the ARMY and Compare them to the marines. .. trades etc.
