Well Shifty, you could always join either the TA or the RMR, then later on you could decide to switch if you wanted, I think you're less bound in the reserves than the regulars. Just a though.
Cheers mate,

If I was in your postion I would be considering these points...

1. Are you physically and mentally tough enough to cope with having your limits being tested to the absolute limits and beyond on a regular basis? I'm not casting any aspersions on you or your ability but it takes a special kind of person to be a Royal Marine and you really have to ask yourself are you truly up for it. There are many who want it but few who get it.

2. Do you want to spend your days being trained to the very highest standards, enduring survival exercises and all other nasty kinds of nasty things that will get done on you to get sent to some hot spot in the world to sort out a rabble that you have never heard of and your exploits will never make the light of day?

3. Do you think they are joking when they say 99.9% Need Not Apply?

If not, join the Army and get a trade. Much more civilised. It's up to you but in the long run the choice may not be yours.

Good Luck for the future.

I’m sure one of the old and bold will correct me if I’m wrong, but royal Scots are line infantry, so are Kings Own Scottish Borders. Where as the royal marine commando’s are exactly that, commando's they are elite and go just about everywhere.

Now before you all start, I’m not taking anything away from the two-army regiments above. They both have proud histories, and are part of the best army in the world. But they’re not the royal marines.

Thanks for the Advice especially Lance's, ive got another year (or so) to decide, but the advice is good. I'll probably TRY and get into the Marines, after all thats what ive wanted to do for ages and ive even spoke to my AFCO a coupe of times about it, but if not then the army will be my 2nd choice.

Thanks for the help guys !

and i was only playing around with Photoshop when i made that avatar Klink lol

They're thinking of scrapping the K.O.S.B. and blending them with some other regiment. In fact I think they're considering just having two regiments in Scotland, a Highland and a Lowland.
