I think Eire citizens can join the british forces, as can most commonwealth citizens. They can sign a british passport application after all. I think the only difference is that they may be restricted from certain jobs and serving in N.Ireland.

all the old Int Corps OPSI's were referred to as dark siders along with some Signals trades.

I'm an old(er) Dark Sider, before the OPMI change. Not everyone has to do languages, all recruits complete OPMI training (basically the old Int&Sy course with some add-ons), then if they wish to, and have the aptitude, they then move on to language training. The whole "craphat" thing really winds me up - I'd like to see how many Para's could pass my trade training - or that of any number of "craphat" trades for that matter.

Yeah, the last course I did had a TA Lt on it, and my current unit has a TA Section attached to it who work on projects alongside the Regulars, although most are SNCOs who've been regulars at some point. There seems to be quiet a few positions availible for FTRS in the Corps if thats something you ...

Basically it comes down to if you want to be a civvie in uniform - RAF, get buggered about all the time - Army, or float about on a boat - Navy.

There are plenty of people from all kinds of Army trades in the SAS - it has very little relevance once your in the Regt, unless your RE Combat Engineer or Signals.

It would be interesting to see the old KGB files to see how many Soviet agents were involved in the miners strikes though. It is pretty much accepted that CND was infiltrated and manipulated by Soviet KGB and female Spetsnaz sleeper agents, and prescence of soviet agents at Greenham Common being ...
