I don't see why not, the amount of action we are seeing in Afghan! Yes SF do a lot more action in peace times but thats not what we are in just now. And Besides In Royal at least SF used to just be an SQ like an other and the pay varied very little(Parachute pay).

An SF trooper can earn in the range of £30k a year , of course you would assume he was already an experienced soldier and earning a decent wage but still because of doing this course he is entitled to more pay?

Yup, All the commando tests are exactly the same. However with the 2 week course being so compressed you do not get a rest day like the regular recruits do on the sunday.

To be honest mate, your only really sure of a year as a grav before more than likely you will get pinged to do something, whether thats a driver, chef, sig or whatever.

And yes for ML or PTI you need to be a Cpl or at least be on the list so that would mean you being a LCpl about to do his juniors ...

Well i think you have answered your own question, the limit is 30, so as long as you are fit enough there is no reason for you not to join.

Why would you not want to go RMR? Surely it fits all the criteria, though your perhaps not going to get your lid you will get a lot closer experience to what you'll get at CTC than you will joining 4para.

Just seems to me a bit odd, that on an RMR forum you would be basically telling people to consider not to join.

I understand what you are saying about unique opportunities while at uni, however i would say that being in the RMR gives you far greater opportunities in some areas than you would get ...

I was led to believe that you could not serve with the RMR if you were a special Constable. May be worth checking if you are in the position.
