Blimey, guess quite a few have left recently then!
That's good news for anyone wanting to join up as an IntO.
There are a few recruitment changes that I know have happened recently, but those are mainly the ones relating to people who are already serving.

A couple of weeks ago, someone on ...

Hyper... Your info is a little out of date. They've recently opened up recruitment for INTO's. There were atleast 4 INTO's on the last IOT alone. I believe they are looking at recruiting 12-16 in the coming year aswell!

Thanks for all your replies.

It would be interesting however to see the Governments justification for the Shell pay scandal compared to that of military pay. Sure driving a tanker along UK roads is dangerous. What about driving an HGV around Iraq? Much more dangerous?

The governement doesn't ...

Just go for it and see what they say. I've been in contact with the army as a potential back up and they would be willing to take me aswell as long as I remain stable for a whole year.

I'm going in as a Fighter Control Officer. You're pay will go up a level each year till you get to the maximum allowed for your rank. You don't get overtime as such, but you do get paid allowances when you are away on operations and think you get a bit of a break on council tax and things like that ...

http://www.armedforces.co.uk/raf/listings/l0049.html These are the pay scales. For an airmen it is £15,667 after training. For an Officer with a degree it is £27,000 after training. I personally think that the Officer wage is quite decent and does a good job competing with other graduate schemes ...

ISTR that your eyesight for commencement of Flying training has to be 20/20, once you have started flying then you can be issued with glasses. Laser surgery is still a no no for mil aircrew at the moment. Ask your careers office...

Only for Pilot. For WSOp and WSO you can be slightly short ...

Re: .

I think the point of this is what would happen to you if you didnt take your tables?

Say you ran out wile out in Afghan?

It would depend on the severity of the condition. For me, I am on less than half the amount of thyroxine as the OP and I wouldn't notice much of a difference. I probably had ...

You can get cleared medically, but you have to be stable for a year. I only found out that I had an underactive thyroid after passing OASC. I'm 7 months into my year, and so far, so good. Just have to make it to October and then I will be cleared to join IOT 15.

There is one advantage of going in now and that is that they are taking a lot of officers at the moment. Recruiting has really opened up and if you meet the standard to be an officer you have a good chance of being offered a commission. In previous years, such as 2004-2005 they weren't recruiting ...

London Boy, Hyperlithe. Thanks very much I think I am looking at the Jan 09 intake realistically. Possibly even early 2010 depending on work!

Think I am one of the only ones on IOT 15 so far as I think they are still filling 14 up, so aiming for the January intake is possible depending how far ...

Hyperlithe

Thanks for the posting, again, very helpful advice.

I have spoken with the wife about it, and for obvious reasons he is a little sceptical about the whole thing, mainly due to the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, she has her worries about my safety. However, that said, she is ...
