Officer Intakes
Does anybody know how many officer intakes there are per year please?

Suggestion for you bushyredsocks, try to refrain from replying to posts when you don't really know the answers to the questions - leave it to the people who are actually already serving and can give useful answers, there's a good chap...
There are 4 to 5 intakes a year, as has already been mentioned, but I have heard from a reliable source that the size of the intakes is increasing this year to 120. The RAF hopes to recruit approximately 4500 people in total, so if you're planning to apply, then this is the year to do it as you'll have more chance of getting in.

Well come on, you do seem to have some rather strange notions about the ease with which an SAC can become a corporal or the ease with which an NCO can become an officer. You seem to think it's simply a matter of filling in a form and presumably awaiting your stripes or crown in the post. And please correct me if that is an incorrect conclusion of what you've written here previously.bushyredsocks wrote:Awk whatever

London Boy, Hyperlithe. Thanks very much I think I am looking at the Jan 09 intake realistically. Possibly even early 2010 depending on work!

It generally takes up to about 12 months from initial application to starting an IOT course. OASC may be changing slightly this year as well, but I'll let you know when I hear more. There was some talk of doing it in 2 visits, but I think that's been canned, so it may just be that you get the interview last instead of before all the leadership exercises.

Hyperlithe, what is it you are going to do once you finish your IOT?

LOL!!
I'm an Aircrew Sgt, been in a few years now, not planning on going for a commission anytime soon; once at OASC was quite enough for me, and I really enjoy the job I'm doing already. I just happen to know people who are involved with the IOT side of things.

Apology accepted!
I did have IntO and ATC down as my 2nd and 3rd choices at OASC, and they basically said I could have anything I wanted, so I stuck with my first choice, which was the job I'm doing now! Can't think of anything else I'd rather be doing, except maybe lying on a beach in the Caribbean...

Would you ever wise up mate? I'v never said it has been easy to get promoted to Corporal, I've just made it aware to the potential recruit that it is possible with the minimum requirments. If I were to go into the ifs and buts' of what it takes I'd be here all day. All I've done is try and make it aware of the minumum recquirements. I'm sorry if you didnt meet these, no need to send treads off in a tangent with minor details!Well come on, you do seem to have some rather strange notions about the ease with which an SAC can become a corporal or the ease with which an NCO can become an officer.
