I find this highly dubious to say the least, Saatchi and Saatchi would have to redesign the White and Blue Ensign as well, plus look at the Union and Royal & heraldic symbolism because they are all intertwined. Basically it’s bollox, the wan•ers at Saatchi & Saatchi are no doubt trying to be arty and ‘controversial’ and get some free publicity. And it’s obviously worked with the BBC. So :fist: Saatchi's.

Saatchi and Saatchi are the same idiots who proposed painting Air New Zealand planes (All) Black very clever at night trying to identify them from the tower on the taxi way and landing.
You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!

Hey, why not go the whole hog and get Lawrence Llywellyn Bowen to do the barracks, and Jeff Banks to redo the uniforms.

Could probably milk a few Tv programmes out of it, just imagine a competition along the lines of 'Pop Idol', where the public vote over the phone or pressing the 'red button' now.

Sh** I'd better not go any further or it just might happen, God what have I done ? This is bound to be picked up by SKY.

What they did redesign was the letter heads and advertising logo with the white ensign on it. Mind you I think they could have the £100.000. far better. When you think they came up with the idea of a straight flag instead of a wavy one I think they are taking the piss.

The White Ensign changed... there will be rumblings in the Naval Cemeteries tonight if it is true.
Spitfire... I like your thinking!

Starting on a TV set nowhere near you tonight is NOD IDOL.
People will get the chance to watch a real troop and be able to vote them out of the corps. The DS will also have a vote and then the troop get a vote as well. The one left at the end of 30 weeks gets all the badges and medals he can carry.

Sticky, do you think we ought to copyright this or something, it could be worth millions.

Let me think, there has to be a Lottery angle in there somewhere, a chosen voter who has the opportunity to win a million or something equally valuable (a years subscription to the globe and buster perhaps).

I'm going to speak to my solictor in the morning. (Sh*t, I don't have one)

Thousands of pounds to change over 200 years of naval heritage? A little bit too much to pay. Why change a flag that represents honour, tradition and a proud history the world over? Some of my family died under the white ensign, and the most important thing to the Admiralty was that 'The colours flew until the ship went under the waves'. I'm not sure that an advertising company's copyright logo has a place on the flag! :x If it's not broken, don't fix it!!!!

If I'm understanding this correctly, this means the flag is the same; but the way it's presented on paper etc will be different? A similar thing has happened with the USAF, they changed their offical 'badge' (I'm not sure what the correct term is) from;

to

Image

Though they do still use the former as the roundel, plastered on the side of aircraft etc. Funny thing is, they wanted to make it look more flashy to get recruits; the RN seems to be change for changes sake :o.

White Ensign

Post by Rod Spinks »

Spitfire dosn't it make you sick to think that the White Ensign has been flown on every ship and establishment since 1801 and now some "Arty" w@#k are trying to change our Flag. You like me being former members of the" Senior Service "we need to get the message across because this Island of ours is slowly going down Mate, in yr's to come the white man will be the underdog and our traditions will go too. With the spinless Blair & Hoon ,( what a joke they are )in charge God help us.
I rest my case Spitfire!!
Regards.
Aye.

Hold on people you're all getting het up about nothing. The White Ensign is *NOT* being redesigned. Only the corporate RN logo which *incorporates* the White Ensign is being changed (to a blue background) which IMHO is a good thing cos it looked a bit naff anyway.
