Un-armed combat
Are the Para's trained in 'hand to had'/ unarmed combat? if so is it a specific martial arts?
Re: Un-armed combat
Not as far as i know!! the only close combat you do is Bayonet training.
Re: Un-armed combat
We did a bit of it but it was not not any thing like the Martial Arts, it was mainly survial stuff.

Re: Un-armed combat
There is no such thing as unarmed combat in the military as you will always be armed with something, but if you're lucky you might get taught a few things while in training by yours truly

So milling isn't "close combat", why are you giving out inaccurate advice on something you know NOTHING about.Chris129 wrote:Not as far as i know!! the only close combat you do is Bayonet training.

The little stuff they actually do on the PTI course is about as much good as tits on a fish, i was on a refesher course earlier this year and showed them how useless it was and the things they are showing will get people hurt. And the recruiting team does a well rehearsed SHOW things that look good to try and catch the publics attention.

Re: Un-armed combat
When I was in we did knife fighting, how to disarm a person with a loaded weapon, some easy ways to kill a person also we spent time kicking sand bags to death amongst some other things. Then there disarming a person with a rifle and bayonet, how kick a person knee cap off and few other choice items, all handy in civviy street.

Re: Un-armed combat
All this loaded weapon disarming is nonsense 99.99% times you will end getting shot before you get anywhere near the weapon

Sandy we were taught this in the Regiment, back in the 1950's.
