Family History and the R.D.C. 1917

Post by Alan Shaw »

Hi, I am researching my family history and I have found that in 1917 my grandmother married a Private in the R.D.C.

His address given on their marriage certificate states:

113 Protection Company, Cromwell Gardens, South Kensington.

Does anybody know what the R.D.C. was?
or any info on the 113 Protection Company

Maybe the RDC was the Royal Defence Corps but this is only a guess, I don't know if such a company existed.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards
Alan

All I could come up with.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Defence_Corps.
I have an idea that the troops were used to defend against the IRA,as the time period is about right and the Black and Tans had become a little unpopular, but I'm not sure yet. They were certainly used as Home defense,a kind of pre'WW2'Dads Army.
Wikipedia is notoriously unrelaible so let me see what else I can come up with.
