Hi JR, Thanks for the info. Would I be right thinking that this badge is somewhat rare?

Trust the Marines to have some one around to dig their trenches.

Bob
Be carefull there is a thriving market in knock WW1 cap badges. They are made on the original stamping dies and are very difficult to tell from the original unless you have an original to hand.
Modern ones use a lighter gauge brass and when you polish them they don't have the same "depth" of shine as the real McCoy (something to do with the copper content).
As JR said the old RN Division ones are pricey if genuine, that probably accounts for all the RN Division repros on the market.
I believe the Labour Corps was made up of men over 50 years of age.
Now if you find a genuine Timber Corps badgge I will gladly send you a set of puttees for it!!.
Take care

Hi Guy's, The badge arrived today and I have to say it is not an original, the metal ie very thin. I paid to f**k**g much for it so I'll put it down to experience. I'll be more careful next time. Thanks for your wisdom on this. Regards Bob
