Sig's+ P company?

Post by SanMiguel »

Hi all,

After my last time on here talking about the Para's, I went to the AFCO having looked around at different units in the Mob, I think that something like the Signals Corps would suit me more to be honest (no one put pressure on me at the AFCO, just thought it'd be more up my street-Still not made any decisions).

The reason I'm posting on the Para forum is because I know that with the Sig's you can go for P Company and AACC. Was just wondering if anyone knew any more info on this, what jobs in the mob will let you do this, and how often they let people go to get the maroon or green lid? Or even better, is there anyone on here who has been in Sig's or attached to them?

Cheers

Generally you are only going to be put up for AACC or P-Coy if you are required to be para / commando trained for your role, so this usually means a para / commando attached unit. At least, that's what I understand the rule is, though I've seen many TA NCO's wandering around with commando flashes & wings.

16AA & Para Reg use plenty of siggies so there is certainly the opportunity to do P-Coy. Not so sure about AACC, believe that the RM have their own sigs branch? Ask in the RM forum, we have enough booties around here, sure one can answer your question.

In general, everyone needs siggies, so if you're fit & competent you've probably got a good chance at badge collecting.

You dont need to do P-Company to be in 216 Signals Squadron. You put it down as a posting and you do P-company when you are there. It doesnt even matter if you fail P-company, you will get another go atleast.

Alot of the 216 guys i have worked with were quite professional and likable. Some of the guys without their wings like to think they are something special and perhaps need to be put in their place. But apart from that they are a good bunch of lads.

Especially Cookie....he took a round in Now Zad...respect! 8)
