Burning infront of shins

Post by darrenrugby18 »

Afternoon,

Went for a run last night and about 2 miles in the front of my shins started to really burn, never had any problems with them in the past, if anythin its my knee thats aches occasionaly but not enough not to train. Any ideas? this the beginning of shin splints? don't want to hassle to the doc just yet as i stopped running stretched it off and seems fine now, i'll stay off impact cv for a couple of days.

it seems the start of shin splints or anterior compartment syndrome (had both less than a month ago) if its JUST started you can catch it in the a** by letting it heal, stay off the impact (as you already are doing), ice it after runs for 20 mins, get a heat pad on it while you sleep, get 'sorbothane' innersoles (great for impact cv)...if after week or two its gotten worse or hasnt gotten better...GP time.

could also be due to orthotics...basically if you run with your ankles kinda pointing inwards left/right...

Insoles with a new pair of shoes is a very good bet. Your GP (mine especially) won't know alot about this kind of injury.

The really terrible thing is that 3 members of my Monday night 5 a side team are Spurs supporters! :(

Good job I am not playing... thats twice in 2 years they have got soft penalites at the lane  Let's face it refs are cowards and the FA are inept, having said that it's not just us that suffer :x

I'm a spurs fan and was pretty disappointed with the diving as it normally doesn't happen, infact players like Keano actually tell the ref that they weren't fouled! I think it may have been the desperation of needing a result so badly.

At the end of the day though all the teams do it, just some more then others

Anyway I had a fiver on 2-1 Spurs at 7/1 so I'm quite happy. :D

PS I was sat near the Pompey fans - they are great fans!

Cutting through all that - i'll put it simply now for you darren, seek medical advice and ask to see a physio at your hospital - nip it in the bud now before it has a chance to develop! Don't do what i did!

these special insoles that you can get to suite the way you walk/foot shape etc.......

Do they over a few years, change and correct the way you place your foot, so that eventually, no insoles are needed, and you do not overpronate/supinate at all.

Or do they only work whilst they are in, and you need to get a new set everytime your change your shoes.
