commando adventure days

Post by lodgi »

I went to the one at sheffield on 28th of may. It said on the sheet that it was for males of fifteen and upwards. There were loads of young (age 11 and the sort) lads and even a handfull of girls on it but it was ok still. We did abseiling, some fire and manouvre paintballing, went on some fast boats and they showed us the weapons and a river crossing technique aswell as some unarmed combat moves. It didn't tell you much that you didn't know all ready but I did get the chance to have a chat with some bootnecks and talk about what it's really like in there. I'd reccomend it to anyone intrested but I'd make sure you take someone else as there are plenty of times when you're sat about waiting and you'll need someone to chat to.

These are absolutely awesome!!! One of the best days out i've had. Mine was down in Poole so lots of emphasis on the Rigid Raiders and a quality BV demo at Bovington (I think???).

One tip though - if you're joining as an officer, keep quiet! I was at the top of the abseiling scafolding when a Marine asked "Are you joining up then?" I replied that I had my POC in a few months at which point he shouted down to the whole syndicate "Oi! This one's going for officer!" Thereby giving me the undivided attention of about 50 potentials and 10 Marines for my abseil! (Cue nerves) :o Managed to hold my own though...

so is it a kiddy excercise if there are like 11 aged kids there? and yeah, sounds like a bit of pressure with marines that have actually passed out talking to you about going for officer. Good luck with it all mate, keep us all informed
