Doing kickboxing in bare feet on rough wooden floors does the trick. Otherwise I don't know. Careful with creams as any that have a moisturising effect will break down the keratin in the skin and make it softer.
In my experience getting blisters time and time again and letting them heal is the only surefire way to harden your feet up. Failing that using a small thin pair of socks inside your thicker ones and smearing a thin layer of vaseline on the trouble spots might stop you getting them.

Hallo Luke...
Yeah mate i know what you mean, i get Blisters to but only seems to be one foot and the same place all the time, hurts so much i run through the pain, but eventually it gets to the point where it is unbarable,
the blister last night was the size of about 3/4 of my thumb,
but i just strap my foot before a run, also think about the socks u use some socks cause friction (proven fact)

It might seem obvious but have you tried plaster material strips? They are like plasters but without the padding/gorse and it comes on a roll. It's quite tuff and sticky so I can't see the boots/trainers wearing through it or rubbing it off.
They are only a couple of quid for a roll, just don't stick it on top of a blister. When you try to pull it off it will take the top off your blister!

What she said. Kickboxing not required, but just let your blisters dry up then go out again. Your better off stopping blisters than treating them, though. Use good socks. Absolutely no cotton! Use a 70/30 wool/nylon mix with a loopstitch sole. They'll wear well and keep your feet warm, even when wet. Very thin poly pro liner socks will also reduce the friction and help to keep any moisture away from the feet. At the end of the day, though, everyone gets blisters. It's all about making the best of a bad job!GemmaLS wrote:Doing kickboxing in bare feet on rough wooden floors does the trick. Otherwise I don't know. Sorry to get all 1990's gucci on you but Compeed now make a Blister Prevention Cream which you rub on your feet.
It's about 4 squid and seems to be made up of hydrogenated vegetable fat.
It works by not allowing your feet to heat up and therefore cause friction - i think it fills in all the little ridges in your skin.
Give it a try - what with that and the thin socks/thick socks advice you'll be a made man.
Me? I just cut them open and dribble a bit of wee in them then tab on. Surgical Spirit is for drinking when you've run out of screech.

When you say surgical spirits, what do you mean? Isopropyl alcohol?

Isopropyl alcohol? No, I don't think so. I mean surgical spirit B.P.
95% industrial methylated spirit
2.5% castor oil
0.5% methyl salicylate
2% diethyl phthalate
For: Prevention of bed sores and hardening the skin of the feet.
To use: Apply the solution directly to the skin with a pad of cotton wool as required.
(I just read the label of my industrial sized bottle. I'm not THAT clever
)
You can get it from your pharmacy. Couple of quid for a big bottle should sort you out.

I wipe it all over my feet, concentrating on the outside/ends of my toes, ball of the foot and around the heel. Once in the morning and once at night. Oh, and make sure its dry before you go putting socks on or wandering around.
You should notice a difference after a few days or so in my experience.
Any other questions for MF&Ts resident surgical spirit expert, ask away!!!
