Bloody Hell!

Post by briggfoot »

Just flicked on the tv whilst having some grub. The BBC was showing a running event. The winner completed the race in 18mins, 41secs.

Then they showed the distance of the race. 6.5km, or just under 4.1miles, to those of us who work in Imperial.

Humbling stuff, but it shows what is possible with hard work!

All the best

Aye a disprortionate amount of the world's running events are completley dominated by Kenyans, weirdly enough most are from one particular valley. Pretty much the only distance event Africans are not hugely prevalent are the Ultramarathons.

The 3 minute mile isnt it? Maybe that was only for one mile. Impressive stuff anyhow.

The Male Elite field for next years London Marathon is the strongest ever I think, something like 5 or 6 World and Olympic Champs and record holders, plus Paul Tergat record holder who did the Berlin Marathon in a sluggish (lol) 2:08!

...but can they yomp?
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... 'F*ck, what a trip!'

Good point. I run a 5k race recently and I was shocked at how skinny and frail these Semi-Elite and Elite runners look up close.
