Post by bah »

Does anyone know what score you have to get on the BARB test to be a carpenter in the royal engineers?

Dont worry about it its easy to pass! and even if you do fail I remember my Recruiting Sergeant saying b4 doing the test that you can take it again. The BARB test is easy just simplify and re-word the questions and youll get a high mark

I might be wrong but I dont think you can join the Royal Engineers as just a Carpenter, Plumber, Bricklayer etc. I think these are secondary trades for members of the RE. But like I said I might be wrong.

Also dont give the impression your only joining the Army to get free qualifications just so you can leave at the first opportunity to use those trades in civi street. The staff at the careers office wont look to kindly at that.

Your a combat engineer first. Tradesman second, you do get a level 2 NVQ in plumbing and can take it from there. Its the trade i wanted to do but couldent because of my english GCSE.

The barb test is easy, dont worry about it, when i had mine booked i was worried, even though i knew it was easy. That is just human nature, it is fine so dont worry about it at all, you all will fly through it.
Depending on your qualifications and availbilty of the trades you will get a list and can choose three, one being the first option three being your last.

You do your basic 12 weeks, 10 weeks combat engi and then go on to your chosen trade.

The way i done the BARB test was like this:

Bill is taller than Harry.

I would then say to myself, 'Right, Bill is taller?'

Then when the page disappeared and the question asked 'Who is shorter?', I would repeat 'Bill is taller', and then select Harry.

I did the exact same thing and got through with a high score and what made it better was the computer froze half-way through the test and i got to do it again :)
