883 Troop - The King's Squad

Post by druadan »

Today 883 Tp complete their 30 miler and will be unofficially awarded their Green Berets. Congratulations to all the lads, especially the originals I have spent the last 31 weeks with.

Unfortunately I will be sitting in the stands come their pass out next Friday; I broke my foot on the Endurance course, managed to limp round the 9 miler, but woke up Tuesday morning and could barely get my boot on, let alone hammer it around the Tarzan. One fracture plus possibly one or two stress fractures. Around 3 months in Hunter for me...

So near yet so f@@king far! Unlucky mate. One of my mates had a similar thing happen, except for him it was on the 30 miler.

As Lew said, chin up, you'll get there soon enough.

Good luck.

Cheers fellas. There's two other lads in my room in 1 Tp at the same stage, so it ain't all bad. Hunter Coy is close to becoming a Unit, there's 30-odd of us in fractures alone  Least I've got a few days off...

Tell Mike from Cheshire that I expect a few wets bought for me next time he's up homers.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Bloke a couple of Troops before me in training did the same as you but they said "What the Hell" he's proved he's got the Commando Spirit lets let him Pass out. He refused point blank and asked to pass out like everybody else and was still at CTC in what was then called Chosin Troop when I came back to do some pointless course I was volunteered for a year later. I think the course was summut to do with digging slit trenches with explosives.

But he passed out on his terms and he went on to become a damn good Marine and later went on to become a very good Officer.

Sorry to hear about you in hunter druadan, that is so unlucky. I hope it isn't to long before you pass. Also, how many people are left in your troop?

Congratulations '83..had three oppos from 81 pass out with them, and one nobber 'troop nobber' infact he was from 81!

The beggining is round the corner ...Tuesday!

'Artist' I know mike from Chesire...Mentioned you a few weeks ago, was in my orginal troop, Cracked the 6mile speed march with him on Thursday much to the annoyance of his RI...not favorite broken nod of the month.

Mikes doing well hoping to be in 2troop in a few weeks, much off his own back as his RI didnt even want him running on a tredmill a few weeks ago let alone completeing a 6 mile speed march!
