Yet another eyesight query

Post by micky »

My eye sight isn't the best ever, to be honest it's quite poor. My right eye is -5 +3 an my left is slightly better. Infact, that means absolutely nothing to me, but anyway, would they consider my application or would I be rejected?

Any help is much appreciated.

There will be a lot of facts and figures on the forum if you do a search, but if it helps during my medical the doc said you should be able to read the third line down on the chart without your bins on (I couldn't), and failed but that's not neccesarily the end of the road there are other ways and means.

I thought it was aided vision they worry about. I can only read the first letter with my right eye and the first 2 rows with my left and my optician said you can pass with worse. But thats army standards

There's a guy in our Troop who wears specs,I think as long as you are not blind with out them you should be OK, so just go for it mate.

Yeh thats what i thought. My lenses are -2 and -2.5 and your allowed up to -7 or +7 depending on what you are.

So unless you have hubble space telescope lenses you should be reet.

Search, this has been covered an unbelievable amount of times. From what I remember, for Marine entry it's +/- 6.00 in each eye so long as your vision is fully correctable by lenses.

Me Dad once told me that if I didn`t stop doing that, I`d go blind.
"Can`t I just do it till I need glasses, then" was my reply
