What’s the best way to tie your shoelaces? What socks would you recommend for running in? What’s best lucozade or water? Is it bad to run in traffic? How long should I stretch for?

Sorry I couldn’t resist

Congratulations on becoming a PTI.

Again, congrats on becoming a PTI, and remember if you ever get to train recruits in the next year, and you see someone called James in Rhine Platoon; be nice

Is a STAB going to be training a regular recruit? Oh, and James was that you hanging out of your ass on Abbey Fields, Colchester last Saturday morning? You must try harder on the warm up!

Yes it was. That was the BFT on Sat morning right? How do you know that?

I think i know who you are, looking through a number of your other posts...there was only one Staff on the Recruiting team who had been in for 17 years and who was in Aldershot. i could be wrong though.

Is that old geezer supposed to be an image of me? (or am i the slacker at the back!?)

James

p.s. just bear in mind i got 8.31 on the BFT, and i came 3rd...there were wasters still coming in at about 13 minutes! So you cant really say i was hanging out too bad.

Hi paramancan, congrats on getting PTI!

I have a question for you..

For press ups, what is the best way to improve the amount of them that I can do? Is it just keep at them or is there other ways ontop of doing them that will help?

My trick was ever you get a spare moment just push them out. Best example, when your watching TV and the adverts come on hit the deck and start pushing them out until the program comes on again. Works a treat, same with waiting for the kettle to boil.

If you have trouble meeting the standard of 45 try this in the 2 mins

push out

9 then rest
8 then rest
7 then rest
6 then rest
5 then rest
4 then rest
3 then rest
2 then rest
1 and your done.

You will have quite comfortably have got to 45 in the time allowed.

I was told that 50 is minimum, but that you should be aiming for more like 70 when you go into training.

Its not set it stone mate. I would expect over 50 at least but all that the army requires is 45 i believe. There was a bloke on the all arms p coy a couple of courses ago that got champion recruit but couldnt do 45!
