Paypal

Post by El Prez »

The web site which is hosting my photos (Photobucket) has the facility to make voluntary donations by Paypal. I have no experience of this system.
Q. Is it secure?
I'd like to make a contribution to help the site owner out.

I've used it in the past to pay for things I've bought from ebay. I've never had any problems with it & it seems to be secure.

It does take a while to set up though.

Yeah I've used it and it's fine but it did take about a month to get the verification number of my bank statement.

I use paypal and have had nothing wrong with it. One question to Goldie, on ebay when sometimes they ask to add another 2/4/6% when paying by paypal, whats that for. It as if I'm being charged to buy something! :-?

when on e bay it asks you to add 5% to total cost that is because paypal is free to use for a buyer however if you buy an item from me for 10 pound using paypal i will be charged a small handling fee and by you adding the 5% to the total that should cover this charge meaning the seller will not loose out
a thing to remember when selling on e bay is this.....it will cost you to list an item for sale and most importantly when your items sell and your sat with a big chunk of cash in you pocket, at the end of each month e bay will invoice you for the vat on all items sold 17.5%, so yes you can make a wedge but non so great as the e bay god in pc land and our friend the taxman..................any other questions please ask
by the way i have some small royal marine post card prints for sale showing norway lympstone and various other places anyone interested mail me for pictures and i will sell to members of this site for cost plus 10% and not my usual silly prices....regards

I never realised about that handling charge or the VAT. I bought won a Full Metal Jacket DVD (watched it about 20 times now! :D ) for 99p, plus £1.50 P&P. So I payed £2.49 for this DVD, the person I bought it from would have got how much of that in the end up, once you take of the Paypal and VAT, about a quid. Never realised that.

I use PayPal a lot when buying off ebay. I trust it 100%. I've had two accounts over the years and never had to wait as long as was said in this thread earlier. In fact, the verification e-mail to activate my accound was received within minutes of initial set-up.
