New trainers
Hello all
I am currently making my final prepartions before going down to CTC to start basic. At the moment feeling a mixture of excitement, fear, apprehension....blah....blah......blah; same as everyone else.
Anyway I think the time has come to get some new decent trainers. I have had my current running trainers for about two years, they are now seriously worn down as I've certainly run over 500 miles in them; the tread has completely gone.
So, what are you guys all wearing and can anyone recommend a particular pair?
Oh, one question; do you get issued a pair of gym shoes at CTC?
Back to the original question anyone got a decent pair they can recommend?
Nothing to flash as I live on the Isle of Wight and 'we aint got nout fancy round ere, aw-roi nipper'

Pitch, pitch, Goddamn your soul
The more you pitch the less you'll roll
Or roll, roll, you sonofabitch
The more you roll the less you'll pitch.

Or roll, roll, you sonofabitch
The more you roll the less you'll pitch.

Don't you have to wear that eptiome of fashionable footwear, the issue Hitec 'Silver Shadow' in training? If it's changed then that can only be a good thing. Surely the Corps can't afford to lose any more recruits through not wearing decent footwear & subsequently getting injured?
If you're going to buy a pair of your own then go for Asics. Had mine for about three years and still going strong. Just given them a spin in the washing machine to stop the stink though
To all those of you starting training soon/ going on POC/PRMC, Good Luck lads.

Yeah,
I used to always go for the Nike air McFlashies but they really aren't as good for my feet, i was recommended some asics and i was sceptical at first but they are certainly the lightest most shock absorbant shoes i have used would definitely recommend them.
Best bet is to try and get to a Running shop and they will sort you out, if not go with the Asics.

I went for Asics because they only make top quality running gear made for performance 1st not looks like Nike or Adidas, Ive got a pair of Nike Air though just use my Asics for running.

Before you buy some decent trainers :-
Determine wether your feet, whilst running, pronate, are neutral or supinate. To determine how to do this check out a running website like runners world.com or go to your specialist running shop who usually employ staff who themselves are 'in the know'. Thats what I done and after looking at the anti-pronation trainers I decided on Saucony's Grid Trigon simply because the recommendation was to go for them because my feet are like flippers and saucony trainers are wider fitting than Asics. I personally would never go high street sports shop for trainers again because they were the root of my injury problem that I had for nearly a year........BE WARNED!!

Oh! Dear,
Whatever happenned to the old white plimsolls that you used to be issued with - and had to Blanco!! (Do you need to know what blanco is/was??)
You had to wear either plimmy's or boots depending on the excercise!
What is up with you guy's? Just get on with it!!!
