What to do?
What to do?
This morning i encountered a peculiar situation, I was so shocked I did nothing.
I had was on the return leg home from a run this morning about 0830 when i noticed a few school kids from the local comp walking to school (as they should do). So far nothing unusual, until i was about 10 yards from them i noticed one of them had a cheesy grin on his face, but i carried on running just as I was going past them all of a sudden I encounter a barrier fall over and end up face first on the pavement. The barrier being one of the little bastards legs, he actually tripped me up. I was shocked so all i did was get up and carry on running.
Some might say why didnt you do something but that brings up the question, what? Should I have turned round and give him an earful (but what use would that have been im sure he'd have given a damn). Should I have turned round and hit him (again not a good idea I have no desire to ruin my chances of a military career on a moron like that). So the question still remains what should I have done?
Im still a little shocked, i just cant believe how some of these children behave, what is the world coming to?

I would have grabbed his collar and screamed blue murder into his face, might even have taken him to the ground for a little bit more intimidation. At the end of the day you dont want to be hitting them, and I would have just let it go either, they will probably just do it again or take the piss out of you everytime you go past them. Definatelt a good earfull is what I would have done...

Best to just treat it as one of lifes little hic cups and do just what you did.
Next time you see them move across the road and ignore them. Or go to the school and report the little git. Nothing will happen but at least you kept within the law kwew.
Turning the other cheek would seem to have been the correct move.
I accidently once had this bloke hit my windscreen half a dozen times with his head after he had bent the passenger door of my car with his bumber. It cost.

I love those kinds of accidents.
In my little incident i just tired to be mature because as im getting closer to my POC im getting more worried about my age and how that may effect me, but i suppose if im good enough it wont make a difference.
I have to oput up with all the little twats when I go out, shouting a load of abuse. One side of me says, hit them itll be fun. But deep down I know that id just get in the shit and the marines wont wont me for hitting younger people. Just laugh at them and say something back to mkae thier mates laugh at them. If youre lucky, they might react and hit you. Then you can claim self defense!

It is a dilemma kwew, I think you got it right. The days of giving them a 'thick ear' are long gone.
I had a similar incident a while back when out in the village with the dogs. Some local youths under the influence of something decided to hurl some abuse my way, for what reason I know not. Anyway I turned the other cheek and went home, informed my four sons aged 16 – 21 (smallest is 6’ 1”) of what had occurred and off they went. They duly returned home about 20 minutes later and said, "Sorted". Most satisfying

Kwew, I sympathise with you, but what can you do in this PC age.
What gets my goat is the kids that cycle on footpaths only and you as a pedestrian have to get out of their way. We have cycle paths as well as footpaths and often are abused by both walkers and riders alike, our Community Bobby was riding his bike on the footpath that we were on, nodded to us as we let him pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've experienced this kind of thing a few times when out running. It normally happens around school opening/ closing time. One option is not to run at that time.
After it happened to me twice in as many days I decided to do something about it. I was running past a rather large pond and a group of school kids was walking towards me. As I went past them one of them said something offensive (can't remember what). I turned around, gave him the finger
and said (in rather more colourful language) that if I saw him again he would wish he had never been born. Never saw him again or had trouble from that school again, though afterwards I wished I had thrown him in the pond.
I know what you mean though. I hate this day and age we live in where we can't give gobby kids a smack without risking being thrown in the slammer. But just remember, your future in the Marines is more important than teaching him a lesson.

I get around this problem by adusting the time I run at; walking up and down a main road two miles each way this morning (with a school and council estate right next to it), I came across no more than five pedestrians, one milkman and a handful of bemused foxes. It seems not many idiots can be bothered to cause trouble at four in the morning

Fluffy bunnies - Grrrrr!
Tab
That would have been my reaction if I ever come across them again... give'em a good shoulder in the chest and just carry on going...

I'm still in the Sixth Form at the moment and I'm sick of the gobby little bastards... The teachers can't do anything because they'll get sued if they so much as look at the kids funny, the head teacher is too much of a pussy to implement any sort of discipline system and I can't organize the rest of the Sixth Formers (I'm the head boy, useful leverage for officer entry
) to put a beat down on bullying or abuse because we'd get expelled/charged. It is the one thing I can't stand... The other day I was buying something in the canteen and out of the blue some fat little second year half my height threatened to drop me, its hardly an isolated incident either, I even got spat on once and I'm wary of the consequences to react. Bring back the cane I say.
What do you know about surfing major, you're from god damn New Jersey
