Hoping to Join the Navy

Post by HywelThomas »

Hylo, i'm hoping to join the Royal Navy and should have my first interview at the AFCO in a couple of weeks (sent off my qualifications to join as an officer although i'm not sure whether i'm ready to lead people yet :).

Just wondering how long is the waiting list? Will I go straight into HMS Raleigh or is there only a certain times in the year they recruit?

Thanks/Diolch
Hywel

If you've applied to Join as an officer you won't be going to Raleigh but to BRNC. You'll have your initial inteview at the AFCO and then sit the AIB. From looking at the BRNC website i believe they run courses every seven weeks.
In April of this year BRNC commenced an ambitious and challenging, though patently achievable, project of moving from the traditional 3 entries per annum to 6 each year, effectively receiving a group of new entry officers every 7 weeks.

Therefore i expect the joining time will depend on how quickly you can get your AIB out of the way and how many places have been filled on each course in advance.
