Iv been thinking about joining the forces and the RAF sounds like a good choice. Iv been looking at the trade of Weapons System operator. theres one thing i lack. my Physics based science GCSE (I only got a D) although I am currently studying Business and ICT A levels at college. Do you know if I will have to gain the Physics GCSE or is there a way round it?

What Path to take
Dean,
The educational requirements for each trade and branch are fairly rigid, but the RAF does accept other qualifications in lieu. For example, I'm pretty pants at maths and never enjoyed it at school, but I needed it in order to be commissioned. As I'd done a BTEC diploma in engineering at college (which I also hated), the maths modules in that course were accepted by the RAF as equivalent to an O level/GCSE maths pass.
It would be worth finding out from the AFCO if any of the modules within your current course(s) would give you the physics qualification you need.
Hope this helps.

From what ive been told by the afco, with officers you must have the maths english and science grades. If your local RAF careers office says you need your c grade, then if you are still serious about joining see if their are any re-sits coming up. I think there should be some coming up in June but i'm not positive. If you can't get one, you may have to consider night school.
Good luck
