search and rescue

Post by dooher »

Does anyone know the title of the person who acts as the winchman on search and rescue mission? Really what i mean is... what is the RN equivalent to the RAF loadmaster?

On the RN website it states that Search and rescue mission are carried out with a crew of one pilot, one observer and one or two aircrew. But who are the aircrew and what is their title?

Would be grateful if anyone could help me out hear as im already considering applying for the RAf airloadmaster but i am also interested in working in search and rescue with the Navy.

Any info would be much appreciated

cheers

Unless your asking about search and destroy i'd go elsewhere for the answer to your question. The royal marines don't do search and rescue.

Once a Marine you can specialise as an aircrewman, so I would imagine that would be the sort of tasks that they would be asked to carry out. It tells you a bit in the green bible. You could ask at the AFCO, they might be able to tell you more about it.
