Personally I doubt it, but I'd have thought that if the person in question could prove that they weren't a Nazi in any way then they may have to get it removed first but they probably could get in. Even if they had it on with reference to the non Nazi uses of it, I doubt the army would be happy with such a non-PC tatoo.

EDIT: Somehow I managed to switch from third person to second person in the space on one sentence, that must be a new record :).

Top tip: Don't get swastikas tatooed anywhere on your body.

P.S. If you do have a swastika tatooed on your arm then maybe you wouldn't be suited with the British Armed Forces?

You don't have to nessasrily get it removed, just get something put over it, it is far cheaper and gets the same results as long as you don't mind have a larger tattoo on your arm. When I was in the Airborne I knew a number of lads who had swastika tattoos, they were told to remove them cover them up or get the hell out as it is very bad for military PR. As it is the most regognised symbol in the world and whether it is a South American lucky tattoo, or a chinese one or actually the Nazi swastika, to the majority of people it will automatically make you a bigot, a skinhead, a worshiper of the devil and so on and so forth. I would recommend just getting something over it.

There are enough people out there who think that all servicemen are racist thugs with homicidal tendencies and the IQ of an estate agent. For gawds sake don't reinforce this image with things like swastikas, love and hate on the knuckles or pillock across your forehead.

In later life visible tattos will often work against you, many companies will simply not employ you if your tatoos are on show. In military life they can also limit your horizons, some specialist groups and Detachments frown on them nowadays.
Archie.

Tatoos - what put me off getting any and this is a true story.

When I was 14 a mate of mine, same age, was head over heals in love with his first shag called Carol. To prove his devotion he used a mirror and tattooed on his forehead CAROL in blue ink with a pin.

Such romance, however, because he used a mirror he now has LORAC tattooed across his forehead forever. :P
