A question.. i know more or less what Hunter group is, but... just want some clarification here..
So far I'm under the impression that you get put in Hunter group if you recieve an injury in training. However what happens if you fail a physical test, for example the 30 miler? Do you have to restart your whole training, redo a PRMC/ POC, or simply be put in Hunter group until you can pass?
Naturally I dont intend to get into Hunter group, or to fail the 30 miler (providing I pass a PRMC/POC and get that far!), but its good to know these things.
If the answer is already out there, feel free to insult my wannabe ar$e as much as you want!

Sticky blue, Do you mean that it's permissable to fail the commando tests? I really must read all my books again, because I really thought you had to pass them first time. Does the 3 strike rule apply for the tests then? ie: Fail once, try again, fail twice and your backtrooped, fail the third and #### off? If so, that's sounds far more generous than I expected. Not that anyone would want to be backtrooped of course, but it's not a case of total failure if you slip up first time. Phew. I presume you' have to "fail well" to deserve a second go though, rather than say, giving up on the 9 mile speed march (just out of interest, I'd have no intention of giving up, in fact I'd crawl round till my fingers dropped off if I had to!).
Now then, then now, now then now, now then. Never poo poo a poo poo. Damned stout fellow.
Hunter Troop is also for recruits who can't seem to grasp a certain conept or technique. For example a program on Discovery Channel covered this, one guy couldn't for the life of him do a regain, we was sent to Hunter Troop to try all day every day untill he could do it. Later he was was backtrooped when he had finally figured it out.
The Marines require high levels of fitness, skilled people and hardwork.
IF you get injured, fail to learn a particular skill or have a less than sufficent level of fitness, you will be sent to Hunter Company. The chances are that more than 50% of a troop will be sent to hunter company during the 30 weeks.
There is nothing wrong with Hunter Company. Obviously you would want to stay in your troop all the time, but why struggle to the end when Hunter Company could make it easier for you if you are struggling? If You go to Hunter Company, they will get you back to your troop, or backtoop you, as quickly as possible. Afterall, it is thier job to create Marines, not to delay them.
If you do go to Hunter Company, look at it this way - Your going to get all the attention you require and are also given the opportunity to go on with the training. Sometimes they just throw people out if they are not to the standard.
I know that you have 3 attempts at each test, but would they really throw someone out near the end of the course after repeated failure? Afterall, they have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on your training.

The Best Is Yet To Come
The block hunter troop were in (same as PRMC recruits) seems to resemble a butlins holiday camp
Lost of arsing about in 'flip flops' and shorts while listening to music, they also had the tendancy to put on a 'show' while being briefed in the corridor by the corporals. Many people were given push ups for smiling, little note : dont look out the window into/over the courtyard and keep focussed on the corporal.
