Hi, im rob, im new to this forum and im 17 in july 3rd. Im at school doin a-levels and i am very interested in being a royal marine- the thing is im not sure if my fitness is up to the adequate level. i have had injuries that have knocked my fitness down, ive only just started training for a few months, because before that i had missed about 3 years of physical activities.
My last standard bleep test i did was when i was 13 yrs old, and i reachd level 12.3 . Right now all i know about my fitness is that i can run 6 miles in 36 minutes, is this the sort of fitness or would it have to be improved?pls help

36 minutes for a six mile run is good, but your current bleep test levels will be different than when you were 13. If you can do 6 minutes a mile for 6 miles, you should do well on the bleep test. Use some fartlek training and interval running.
Maximum for press ups is 60, 85 for sit ups and about 16 for pull ups. However, during the PRMC, you will be tired when doing these. The 3 mile run must take under 22.5 minutes to complete, but again you will be already tired as you start. Aim for about 18-21 minutes for the 3 miler.
Get some decent runnign shoes so that you wont get shin splints and other injuries (dont go to Wade Smiths or JJB, etc. They dont know what a decent running shoe is. Instead get down to a running centre who will give some good guidance, try KnackkerJacks!).
I hav'nt done the PRMC myself yet, but I have been working on my fitness for a while and have learnt what the Mainres are looking for. If you can run for 3 miles in under 22.5 minutes when already knackered, you should be alright. Do some circuit training also, and make sure that your fitness schedule is progressive (increase the amount of work every other week). You dont have to be 6'5 tall, have a moustache and smoke a pipe, while looking like Arnald Swarzenegger. If you have the desire and the fitness, they will accpet you. If you give up, they will reject you.

Your are really best going into a shop and having them do a check of your feet and you can explain what type of running you'll be doing. 'Up and running' (runningshoes.co.uk) is very good and I can highly recommend them.
