Knees

Post by -Danny- »

I keep gettin pains in my knee's when im running. When i rest and bend my knee's and then put them out straight again there seams to be a scrunching sound this never used to happen before i started doing running everyday. Does anyone have the same problem and if they did could they tell me how to get the scrunching to stop. I have been to my Gp and they couldnt tell me what was wrong so i cut down my running to 5 times a week but it still was happening and now iam only doing 3 runs a week i really need to build my stamina up more, and 3 times a week isnt really been building my stamina up i have been training for 3months and it seems that i have got no where i would really appriciate some advice.

Thanks
Danny

hey, im no expert on this but i think the best idea would be to lay off the running and go to see a specialist before you knacker your knees up mate, try looking in your yellow pages it may cost to see someone but i think it would be worth it in the long run. el diablo

Try this link to a search I did in Joining. Also try a doc who works with a rugby, football team or just goes jogging. the other guy doesn't sound too clever.

You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Danny, i had grease nipples fitted to the sides of the knees, painful operation, but great at running now, no more crunching sounds.

I heard from somewhere that if you had any operations on your knee then that reduces your chances of passing the medical test i'm not sure if that is true though. But cheers for the advice anyway

Yeah,
good ol cod liver oil, thats the ticket.

I only run 3 times a week and my fitness has come on fine, dont try and do too much too soon, ease yourself into a REGULAR routine. It doesn't matter what you do, but one of the most important things is just be consistant. Even if you only run on a tues and thurs - run every tues and every thurs

Glucosamine and Chondroitin (not sure about spelling)
Available from health food shops.

Mark.

NB
Do NOT have the grease nipple op as recomended earlier!
If fitted on outside of knee, can too easily get ripped off on asault course.
If fitted on inner side, unless you are slightly bow legged, they click together when coming to attention.

you can get cod liver oil in capsules now, you can`t taste the cod liver oil, but the capsules taste like crap. back to the grease nipples, if you go that way, make sure you use silicon grease, and not silicon sealer, the latter tends to make the joints a little stiff.(tip of the day)

You were running more than 5 times a week ? :o

Here's a little 'Top Tip' for you

R E S T

I know you've cut down now, but more than about 4 times a week is asking for an injury. It sounds like you might have 'runners knee' but I'm not an expert. Get yourself to a Physio asap.

What timescale are you working to right now ? i.e. Do you join CTC soon or are you working towards a PRMC ? If nothing is forthcoming right now - REST, REST & REST and see what the Physio says.

Get yourself to Holland & Barret before the 24th and you'll be able to get some Glucosamine & Chondroitin Complex (Big Tub 100 capsules) for half price £14.99)
