PARA INSIGHT COURSE

Post by billybob2 »

I am going to do the para insight course in the summer 2003 and wondered if anyone knew the score of what it consisted of??

Do you still think they will do all these courses with the whole Iraq thing going on?

I did one age 15 with the lads from 1 para who did the attack on the west side boys. They showed us pictures they had from sierra leone of... dead people to put it nicely. They messed us about a lot n had us in stress positions half the night. It's certainly a wake up call for a 15 year old :D

It's well worth doing though. We also got to see a firepower demonstration with GPMG's (including how it could be fired standing up), pistols and the sa80 and jump off the parachute tower.

Later;
Mat.
Dodging the bullets and dodging the shells,
Passing the enemy and Airborne he yells,
Killing them here, and killing them there,
This young para is past giving care.

almost forgot - they also did a bft (1.5 mile run) although they didn't record the times - and they filled out recruit preference cards ( ain't sure what they were, I think it's so the lads who ran the course got money if we went through with it - but maybe someone else can shed more light ).

on mine we did the 1.5 miles as a squad and then best effort back, we went on the SAT range, did the mine assult course a few times, did team building exercises, did a couple of gym sessions including a bleep test, numerous beastings and runnings on the field behind the block, had a couple of talks about life in the regiment and watched a p-company video. That was about it, and yeah loadas stress positions. Was a gd weekend though well worth it, i'm from aldershot so i walked to the barracks!
