Reputations for cuting the mustard

Post by jonboy »

Apart from the Royal Marines and the Parachute Reg who amongest the other infantry regiments are of great ability? I know they are all tough Britsih regiments, but which ones stand out from the crowd. I hear the Royal Green Jackets are well thought of and that they train alot of the other army regiments in certain areas, also the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers always seem to be active. Anyone else got any views?

The only other regments with a reputation for being a cut above the rest are the Ghurkas, other than that there's not much difference in terms of reputation that I know of. However, I'm sure some army experts will correct me :).

I'm no expert, but I am Scottish. :)
I whole heartedly believe the best Army regiments are the Black Watch and Scots Guards, who specialise in arid and desert enviroments (useful in the present climate).
There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count & those who can't.

Yes!! Every man and every trade have great ability
The RM and PR do a great job doing what they are trained to do, none better
My grandson is doing a job not many R.M or P.R would like to do
D.E.O.D (Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal) not as glamorous as the R.M or P.R but at times more dangerous.

So remember you guys with your green or maroon berets
There are others just as good at their job

YES I'M BLOODY PROUD OF HIM

Off course, there are other organisations who do just as well in their role as a RM or para do in their job. I can imagine the D.E.O.D work can be extremely dangerous and great skill and nerve is required, and a good steady hand to i should think. But I was comparing infantry regiments, and the D.E.O.D is not one, and i dont think the Black Watch is either, thats a armored unit?
alright

Does Grandad do the old inflated crisp bag trick when the lad is carrying three pints? Or do you wait for him to put them down?

The Black Watch ARE an infantry unit. They are currently in the armoured infantry role in the Gulf
