Hi all, my son is currently in his 11th week of training and has just been sent to hunter company for treatment on his feet. He has picked up Trench foot and some other infection which i am not sure of. They have said he will be there for 3 months!!! Is this correct as this seems an awfully long time. Any help would be appreciated, does anyone know what the treatment will be for this?
Thanks in advance
Caroline

Advice please
Caroline, firstly sorry to hear your lad has had to go to Hunter Tp. Secondly although its been a while since I was at CTC I would imagine that if he has any sort of foot injury continuing with training would only make it worse. As to infection it could be anything, he maybe left going to the sick bay for too long with trench foot.
The reasons for the delay in his continuing training will be numerous, first to get his feet healthy, secondly to get his fitness levels back up, and finally they will have "planned" his return to training at a suitable time in the training programme.
Whatever happens Hunter troop is as good a place to be with an injury, Good luck to him for the future.
Shaun

10 weeks sounds about right to ensure that the condition has been treated and any additional fungal infection of the feet is completely cleared, before he goes back into an environment where the risk of 'trench foot' or 'immersion foot' can be very high. (It's coming up to winter and even worse weather than our 'summer', so we don’t want to pick it up again now do we?)
During training, your son will be getting his body tested to extremes and in most cases, it’s a completely alien regime. Lots of time on his feet, running here, running there, all the while in his boots and often in wet conditions. Despite the best of footwear the MOD is able to supply, some people are just more prone to picking up foot/skin infections, especially with the nature of military type work. (Did he have sweaty feet as a young boy?!
)
I imagine your son, during his time in Hunter Tp, will get some sound advice on the importance of managing his feet in future and, as Shaun says, will soon be back in training as an opportunity becomes available within the programme.
Plenty of advice on t’internet about how to prevent reoccurrence.

Caz, the way to look at Hunter Coy is not with disdain or fear, but in a positive way. He'll have 50 mates in his original troop, he'll make a further 50+ in Hunter Coy, then when he's put back into another Troop he'll have ANOTHER 50 mates. Not to mention, 70% of recruits who end up Hunter'd end up passing out of training. Better to finish the race after your mates than to not finish at all in my eyes.
