Life Or Death?

Post by peter1034 »

Joining up to be a MT.

am wondering during my 9 years how often I will sent to the afghan/Iraq war?

Am aware of the death tolls in Iraq and afghan, however I am wondering the risks of injury for my trade in the RAF.

How many RAF service personnel have been injured or wounded since the start of the war? How many people work for the RAF & how many are serving in afghan and Iraq?

Please do not mis-interpret what I am saying. I am aware of the risks the armed forces can bring ad driving large and dangerous vehicles. This is what I want to do and I can accept the high risk because I beleive this career is for me. However I want to know for my own sake.

My brother was injured in Iraq and his friend killed however this does not stop me to serve my country. Army (Infantry)

I can accept the possible risks but out of interest I would like some experience and fact opinion on this.

cheers

I also want to say - I have a great respect for the people who serve in the afghan and Iraq war - injured, deceased or alive.

The following year my brother was back out in Iraq.

Im not to sure of the risk of a Driver being hurt or killed at the end of the day there warzones and will bring a high risk no matter what.

Ive applied to join Reg as a gunner and that was the last thing I thought of.

There is no more frontline, its a 360 battlefield with terrorists embedded in the population. They strike the supply lines and not the combat units.

That being said your joining the best army in the world and you will be protected every step of the way.

I have faith that when you face the enemy it will be in a deliberate attack and he will be surprised by your presence, distracted by your diversions and overwhelmed by your speed & violence.

Best of luck man.

I dont want to contradict you Tab because I know you are a true soldier who has served in action. Im just presenting this point of view as well.
