If you find yourself in Hunter troop during RT, are you pretty much f*cked or are there many recruits who return to a normal troop and get their lid?
I've heard some massively contradictory stories about what Hunter troop is all about- some say that they'll do everything they possibly can to get you back on track, and you can stay there pretty much as long as you've got the determination to carry on (e.g. the guy who was apparently in there for 3 years, at which point it was decided that he'd never get out so he was lidded for showing true Commando spirit and given a job as a clerk).
Other stories seem to say the complete opposite, such as a lad who was sent home because he got "runner's knee" whilst in training, and somebody else I heard of who had non-permanent knee trouble but was basically told "leave or you'll be MD'd".
Obviously I don't intend on being injured, but it happens. It's probably my biggest concern because I've got control over whether I decide to wrap because I'm not cut out to be a Marine, but I've got no control over whether I pick up an injury. I'd like to think that if I did, I'd be given as much help as possible to get fit so I could carry on and not simply writen off as a waste of the defence budget.

its what you make of it, the RI's will help you as long as you wanted to be helped, after that they'll try and get you binned. I spent over a year i believe in there with knee trouble but tried everything, the stuff i learnt and revised whilst in there made me pass out as a better Marine than i would of done had as i knew a lot more leaving hunter than i did going in.
Wrap and youll be wrapped on, same as in a troop, soon as you give up your f@#k.
there are lads in there that are a waste of time, playing the game having the easy life but they'll never make, the corps doesnt want or need people like them, but people who get injured and pass out, why would anyone think anyless, just another obsticle?
Ref: the lad that god lidded, he got injured on the tarzan, pusser f@#k the op on his shoulder thats why he was out for so long, did his minimum return of service and put his chit in, was giving an honary green lid, similiar to Jimmy Saville etc, never passed out and last i saw of him was working for MPGS on the gate at lympstone.

Sound, that's exactly the kind of reply I was hoping to get (i.e. if you don't give up trying, they won't give up on you).davo141 wrote:its what you make of it, the RI's will help you as long as you wanted to be helped, after that they'll try and get you binned. Good on you getting over your injury. It must have made it all the more sweet when you passed out.

i was at lympstone for 105 weeks
god knows why mind! corps shit

dont know the lads name by anychance Artist?
problem is in there, people loose there motivation, specially after a while and the wraphands prey on it and in the end a lot of good blokes leave.
if only people knew what the corps was like on the outside of the box, cause its 1000x better than anyone can ever say whilst in the box cause your not really paying attention as at first your to busy salutin cpls, avoiding officers or hanging out to think its true!
been an orginal is overrated, once out noone cares how you got out just you did!

The Corps spends alot of money and time getting guys they want into training, ie the PRC etc etc
Once in they do actually want you to pass, its about making units effective, no bodies = no units = no corps.
So if you get injured its why there are the likes of me, doctors, physios, nurse etc, and Hunter troop to fix you, get you back into the mix. Its cheaper and better PR than just binning blokes for a blister.
CTC makes you a RM, you are not required to be a RM and breeze training, why else would they need training?
Its judged on an individual basis and I would echo the points of my esteemed oppos that no matter what your injury your character is also taken into consideration. A good egg missing a leg wuld be supported, a w4nker with a migraine would be binned......ok Im taking the piss, but the point is medical excuses are given to bin prongs.
Stop worrying about hearsay and what happens if it all goes wrong, and worry about getting in and passing, the corps will support you.
(as an endpoint, I am aware of many stories where the corps has got it wrong, its human so shit happens.)
