Iv passed my interview, and medical / PJFT wont be a problem, so i was just wondering how long is the wait after PJFT untill i start basic training at Halton.
I understand you cant give me an exact figure, so id like just to know how long it took you
i applied last november, oo i year today and my date isnt till next April, theres been alot of interviewing and them waiting around for me finishing uni, but just depends what trade your going for??
Im going in as an MT Driver. Not really finding myself doing any constructive right now other than exercising so the sooner i start training the better . Got my medical next week and sure it wont be long till my PJFT after that, so i guess ill find out what i start soon after.
By the sound of some of the posts iv read on here thought it takes a fair amount of time, so maybe i might need to get a part time job
Iv always been keen on driving and can imagining myself really enjoying the job. Iv thought long and hard about good and bad things about the job, and the only bad thing i can think is the lack of exercise i will get. But iv always been a keen rugby player etc so i'm sure i will find some out of hour activities to stop my belly from growing too much .
Ever since a kid iv always been around vehicles etc, had quad bikes, motorbike, car and always loved all of them. I think it will suit me perfectly. As well as the great opportunities to travel, sounds like a great package.
mental health nurse but they have been waiting on me finishing university, i passed my specialist interview back in april and the ppl that i had my specialist with have all graduated from halton now so its sorta my own fault but i was devistated really when they told me i wasnt goin in till april i honestly felt like what on earth am i going to do with the next 6 months of my life, at the mo im wishing the time away like literally, 23 weeks on wed till im going to halton and honestly i cant wait, im now stuck in a ded end job but i no its not goin 2 b a permanent thing, what trade are you going for?
I've got an appointment to speak to someone on Monday, it's the first time I have set foot in the careers office. They won't expect me all suited and booted will they? It is informal.... right?
Going for the RAF Regiment, and I know a bit about them. Is there anything they will expect me to know?
thunder: In general I think the process for me has been at a decent speed, roughly about 1-2 weeks between each process. But I am from Cornwall, and Its not the most highly populated place. Just take each step as it comes and it'll arrive before you know it.
HMK: I originally applied for Regiment and interviews etc went well. For me it was the same guy i first ever spoke to about the RAF was the guy that interviewed me. Formal clothes were only required for the interview for me, and i imagine its the same. In all honesty I doubt they expect you to know a great deal, after all you are going in to gather more information. Before your interview you will have a basic aptitude test. Providing that goes well you will be given a presentation on preparing for your interview, just revise the information they tell you and all will go smoothly.

Most of the time they take ages because every course that goes through RAF Halton are around the same trades. so when they pass out there training will be ready on there next base.

When i Joined up last year my AFCO fellas were great. they do as much as they can with the system there given to work with im guessing. you just have to be patient. i waited altogether 1yr to join. was a pain in the a** but all good in the end.
and HMK... first impressions always matter the most.. just wear a shirt, tie, trousers and nice clean shoes. always a good start

if you like rugby that much too... and are pretty good you could end up doing that most of the time, always a good way to look at it.
ive just graduated from DCAE Cosford from my AMM course and one of my mates played for the TRI-service under 23's, RAF under 23's and dcae cosford team. all in them six months so there are really good chances of you playing too.
