How much does your score on the aptitude tests affect the job options available to you? Can you fail it? What hapens if you score exceptionally highly?

If you score high you get to scrub out 2 deck instead of the heads. :o

Im not sure if I can help with this one when I joined I asked (for some strange now incomprehensible reason) to be an OM. On my initail vist to the careers office, I must have meet the criteria in regard to the aptitude tests because after that it was never a problem. What branch are you hoping to join derren, it might be worth speaking to the careers office and see what they have to say. Normally some branchs are more accessable due to the Navy s manning requirements, when I joined up they couldnt get enough OM's. Not sure whats in vogue now though.

I'm hoping to join as a Communications Technician. I'm easy as to whether this is Ship based or as a Submariner (If they have Ct's on subs that is). To be honest I am willing to do any job at all, CT is just my preference.

I can tell you that comms tech is one of the highest percentage requirements - think its 85 or 90%. You need to ask the AFCO they give you the info if you ask the right questions! Not sure that they would lower the requirement for the subs - just means they would be more likely to pass you through interview if you say you will go on a submarine.

I get the impression that Submariner is not a popular carrer choice for most people. Is there less likely to be a long wait between interview and Raleigh if you apply for subs?
