A DAY TRIP TO LONDON?
There is a resolution to the problem. It will however require the activation of the quiet majority over the noise and ructions of the clamouring minority who won't see the wood for the trees. We can bang on as much as we like, but unless our 'leaders' take firm action we might as well hand over the keys now and bog off into the sunset.
I've never given up on anything before, I don't intend starting now. If you want Blunkett to know how you feel wack an email to the following address.

I have been reading all of your comments with great interest and trying to recall why I came to Canada after leaving the Corps.
The warnings of Enoch Powell were still ringing in my ears and even 20 years ago I could see what was happening to my Great Britain. Canada has it's immigration problems, however, it is a large enough country that one can usually escape to an area where they feel comfortable. Britain, being a small island, just cannot absorb all of the immigrants that are being allowed in. As has been said, there are many undesirables being allowed in, bringing their problems and prejudices with them. No it is definately not the Great Britain that I grew up in.
What is the answer? I could be sent to jail if I told you. I do feel sorry for you guys over there, as you have been left holding the bag and what a bag of marbles it has turned out to be.
Aye - Andy.

I go to London by going round the M25. We in the west country... and I meen south of Bristol, do not have as much problem as you up north.
BY TRAIN sorry Simon that is taking the piss no one does that?? although you did.
Lorry..... now that is the way to travel and if they want to hi-jack me then they can have all the horse shit they can carry.
Litter.. years ago I saw someone from Norway she.... yes she...said why is England so dirty??????????
I have taken horses to Sweden and Italy you get to Dover show your and the horses passports and eventually are put on a boat. Once across there you travel though every country without a problem. The only reason you know that you have moved from one country to another is the mobile phone gives a beep.
From way out there is a big unwritten, so knowing sign....
UK that way
And every person in every other country is pointing towards US
SORRY UK
Yes Harry has one of the best ideas
Andy has done it years ago
Like rats.... lets leave the sinking ship is that spelt with a T or P??

Immigrants....
1971/72 ish 41 Cdo could not go to Malta Mr mintoff didn't like us
So 41 were pushed into Plasterdown Camp cos we had nowhere to go.
Great camp bit rough but got everything you need.
Eventually things were sorted and we got onto a boat and sailed for the Med.
Then the Ugandan Asian problem turned up. So the put them in Plasterdown Camp
They didn't like it
UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION

Simon described how he felt a foreigner in his own country, and was under threat. Isn't that supposedly why many of these so called 'asylum seekers' left their original countries? So our Govt allows them to enter by fair means or foul and oppress us in the same way they were.
If you have written to Blunkett why not try IDS at www.conservative.com ?
Somebody might listen, ..........my arse.

you're not the only ones
The US has many of the same problems-and many of us have the same complaints.Texas borders Mexico and there are places here where you cannot find someone that speaks English and if you mention it you're accused of racism(I am white btw)so I can sympathise with y'all.
For those who have had to defend it, liberty has a flavor the protected will never know
Hi Gearjammer351
If that's the way things are in Texas then you should feel right at home when you come over here; you can even get Bud in long necks!!

Gearjammer,
The saving difference ...,thank God,is that you still have the death penalty & aren't afraid to use it,to rid the world of "undesireable",murdering scum, whereas here,we "rehabilitate" them & they reinvent themselves as "Politicians"

I don't think the death penalty will last much longer though-as hordes of long haired 'social activists' turn up to protest the brutality of executing murderers, rapists, and child molesters-strange how these folks don't turn up to lend their sympathy to the victims of these monsters-but feel compelled to defend their'rights'.
I also understand the feelings that many of you have about rampant immigration,Claire has been to the US several times and it's her opinion that it isn't as bad in the UK as it is here.I can feel for these people,I know that their home country is crap-it is why they left, but as others have pointed out in this thread why do they feel like they need not assimilate? My ancestors came to the US from Ireland,Scotland, and Germany, and I cannot speak a word or German or Gaelic.Fifty or a hundred years ago immigrants felt compelled to learn the language, absorb the culture and genarally'fit in'.Now you cannot go anywhere without being in a queue behind someone who is demanding that an interpreter be found to speak Spanish/Chinese/Farsi etc.to them. The US has always had immigrants and to a degree it has had a positive effect-we do have good people in a general sense but I think the problem is the attitude that we must respect their culture whilst they shun ours!I will be living in SE Englandsoon, and I will have a new perspective on your country.I will probably stay on here as I like other military people-whether currently serving or not.It may be a bit ironic for me to comment on immigration being an immigrant myself, but in another sense it will be like coming back to my roots.

Gearjammer, I get your drift, but one thing is fundamentally different in the US and that is if you want US citizenship you have to sware allegeince to the flag and country. Your emigrants are primarily US citizens, that is what they want to be. Here any trog can come in and lambast our way of life without even lifting a finger to be any part of it. What they are after is our freedom to do their will, and also our free speach, which they cant get in their own miserable countries

Some years ago I went down to the smoke for an interview, I arrived there about 0730,my appointment was not til 1030, so I headed off to the Union Jack Club for breakfast.
On completion I decided to take a walk north over Waterloo bridge. Any way I reach the north side of the bridge, it being a cracker of a day I decided to watch the small amount of traffic on the river from the parapit of the bridge.
Im not sure why, but at that moment I caught sight of a young woman, about 19/20 walking towards me from the south, she passed me and then turned round and passed again the other way. She then took hold of her long, Kaftan type dress by the hem and proceeded to take it off! At the same time placing one leg over the parapit. By the time I got to her her other leg was on the wrong side of the bridge and she was completely bloody naked and about to jump.
Any way I did what any good Gent would do, and grabbed hold of her, mumbling something about it was too good a day to take a swim.
At that point two of Londons finest arrived on scene, thank god they had seen it all from the start, the young lady was eventually bundled into and ambulance and taken away. Cops took basic details down muttering that she had been the fourth that week, and then asked my occupation,
when I said Coastguard, they laughed, saying would Visitor be all right!

A Killing?
The following extract is from tonights evening telegraph in Peterborough.
23 October 2002??????????????????????What did I say??????????????????
SEARCH FOR KILLER ON THE TUBE
Police were today hunting a gang who brutally murdered an antiques dealer who had got lost on the London Underground and got off at the wrong stop.
Thomas Scott (35) was visiting the capital from Newark, Nottinghamshire and was set upon as he walked out of the station with his 28year old half brother.
His distraught sister Maria said, He was a brilliant young man and well loved brother and his life has been taken away from him for no good reason.
The two men were attacked as they walked out of Kentish Town station in North London after getting the wrong train home.
WHose next then???????????????????
My thoughts go out to his family.

Though there is no cure-all to violence, there are policies that can have a dramatic effect on it.In response to a 1993 killing spree in Killeen by a madman armed with a handgun Texas enacted a law in 1995.This law permits any citizen, aged 21 and over, without a criminal record, and having passed a qualification course,to obtain a liscense from the state to carry on their person a concealed handgun. In the years since violent crime in Texas has been reduced by more than half-following a 30 year steady increase.
In response to to a 1996 killing spree in Dunblane,Scotland by a madman armed with a handgun Great Britain enacted a law. This law prohibits all private handgun ownership. In the years since gun related crime has increased by %8 and the overall violent crime rate in Great Britain is now the highest it has ever been-far higher than Texas in fact.
The lesson I see in this is simple-there will always be wolves,it is a fact of nature-but the wolves tend to be a little more careful when the sheep turn out to have fangs.
There is violent crime here-as there is everywhere, the difference is when I walk the streets of Dallas at night and when I pass by someone who looks like a thug I wonder if he is armed-and he wonders the same of me-and he moves on.There was one occasion where a group of three youngsters were curious,I sated that curiosity by simply reaching for my weapon and assuming the look of one with fangs, they quickly lost interest. No shots were fired,I didn't even display my weapon, but they seemed to understand and suddenly remembered that they had something better to do that day than die.
Twenty-eight of the fifty states in the US have passed similar laws in the past decade, and every one of them has experienced a steady reduction in violent crime ever since. The twenty-two states that have no such law have experienced an increase. This may not be everyones' vision of a perfect world, but in the absence of perfection I'll take the ability to defend myself-rather than wait on some fat a%& cop who is too busy writing parking citations to protect the public!
