gfski ......

if you turn your head sideaways and look in a mirror and look at your mouth, you will see what a t@&t is .........

The Corps is comprised of a hierarchy (look in a dictionary if you don't understand what this means) and that is why it works ..... we all did the same training and some of us a bit more - those who are good succeed... and we (used) work as a team, not individuals .. but there again there was always the odd one who thought he would be different and did not really come up to scratch.

Given your verbosity regarding officers, there is little wonder there are few officers replying on this site.

Having said that, there are good and bad at all levels and I would be the first to admit it.

I trust you are in fine fettle and life is treating you with some consideration ?

Have a nice one

I really should pay more attention sorry gfski I didn't read all of your post first time round. Mea Culpa!

If I had fully comprehended your earlier post I would have added to my reply:
Anyone can be a
t@&t
either for the moment, or for their whole life.
Anyone can be a gentleman either for the moment, or for their whole life.

Look closely at yourself to see which category you fit in, 'cause on the basis of your post its quite apparent to us.

I apologised on the other threads also. Sorry I was trying to make a joke about subdued ranks badge and the brass officers badge but seem to have missed the mark by quite a bit. Sorry If I offended anyone

Well done Bootneck you are the first to answer the question correctly.

Note it is nothing to do with the Cap Badge, but the BERET.

Having said that the person in the careers office more than likely ment the cap badge.

BUT Young lad it has been noted that the use of capitals, commas, and other punctuation marks are saddly lacking. Although the people who have replied have managed to put them in.

A casual hint!!!

Glad I left school at 15......but was teached right!!!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there is still the difference of silk and leather bindings on the berets? I know in the original design for the berets that was one of the design points but am unsure if it continues today. Officers being silk and Ranks being leather.

Thank you, and again sorry. I didn't set out to be a persona non grata, but I did accept the responses from everyone in the manner they were, hopefully, intended. It is true quae nocent, saepe docent.

Mike,

Of course he did, its just a matter of interpretation.

If he is talking about an RM officers beret and a ratings beret (i.e. RN), then its colour!

If he is talking about an RM officer and an RM other rank beret, then most of us see the question to be clearly meant as a euphemistic metaphor, which is for rolfarooo to interpret.

If it was a glib referral to the actual cap badge then the CA needs his proverbial kicking as there are too many what ifs to such a poorly phrased question.
ignotum per ignotius
There being significant differences between, other ranks, warrant officers & officers and senior officers, each dependent on whether it is bronzed or anodized cap badges being compared.

Either way our erstwhile Rupert was advised to do some studying and perhaps some sole searching.

Notwithstanding the joci causa of this thread, chin up and dig out rolafrooo

What does joci mean? I have looked for it but can not find it anywhere, I know that j was used to replace certain i's in translations of orginal latin texts but has gone out of favour with the more traditional view on translations which would make it ioci but again, no joy. Not attempting to start another tirade, honestly, just curious.
