hi,
well both forces are the elite, but the marines course is longer and the recruits are required to carry out more physically demanding tasks, not to say the paras training isnt hard because it is but the marines is harder and they have better training.

Good tip for you younger guys. You are posting on a site where both Paras and Marines are as well.... Best not to express an opinion until you have been there.

Sorry if this seems hard but that's the way it is. They'll just shoot you down in flames if you post about this stuff

When it comes to the better soldier.....para or marine, if you had to pick a better soldier on reputation, then the marine would win everytime (in my opinion, before someone tries to ram the mouse down my throat through the monitor) , because they are better known as the elite, and as far as i know havn't had as many cock ups, (e.g. bloody sunday for paras ).

Professionaly they are very simlar, BUT the marines are trained for more enviroments................and their not a pongo :P

It's not just about the training it's about the individual soldier, even I know that  And the remark about bloody Sunday is just plain crass.

the marines have been around longer than paras, much longer, but paras have 6 vic crosses and marines 10. so this says in its self how good the paras really are, considering they havnt been around as long.

Although i didnt want to answer this question i must point out that they are both used for different things. and i think people have been watching to many films with marines in and seem to think that they are gods.

opinions differ from person to person, i was a recruit in paras and am now joining the marines, because i think they are both very very good (none of this, my regiment has superpowers crap). my old section commander said all the marines were good for was showering together, but that was his opinion.

as for para cockups they didnt catch each others legs on fire, as what happened to some marines in iraq. im not sticking for anyone but people have watched to many marine films.

Also a little off topic i was on a us marine website and found out that there motto is 'the few the proud' but they have just under 190,000 marines, how is that few!!!

Here we go again, people taking answers to literally. What ever the answer it's going to be opinionated. Take things with a pinch of salt, and at the end of the day, realisticly there is no right or wrong answer, everyones will be different.

Just imagine the scene... The chopper puts down in Helmunt Province in the Ghan, and Marine Dazaa, comes to take over from his compariet in the Paras....

As he does he tells them what what a great job they did but hey the "Marines are better aren't they we all know that".

Guess what the "Airborners" will do with their remaining rounds??? :o
