The Naval General Service Medal, (NGSM) that some of the old and bold are in posession of was first Instituted in 1915 for service in minor operations and over the years untill Its demise in 1962 to be replaced by the General Service Medal (GSM) 16 Campaign bars were awarded to the NGSM 12 of these Campaign Bars since 1945,SE Asia 1945-46 (2.000 awarded to RN/RM,Palestine 1945-48 (7.900 awarded),Malaya (7.800 awarded),Yangtze 1949 (1.450 awarded),Cyprus (4.300 awarded most of these to 3rd Commando Bde RM),Near East (Suez) (17.800 awarded),Arabian Peninsular (1.200 awarded of which Royal had the fair share),and Brunei (900 awarded once again Royal Taking the Lions Share) after checking the Medal year book it would seem that the NGSM Medal is worth far more than the GSM 1918-1962.Hang on to em 'frank' we're Rich.Aye JR
