From what I can remember as long as you do not have a forum of colour blindness, you just have to wear glasses. Unless its changed?

If you fail the eyesight test you don't get in. If you choose to wear contact lenses that should be upto you. I know guys in the band who wear them but our eyesight standaeds are different to the GD side of things.

I was told not to wear my contacts for just 2 days prior to test. wore my glasses in test and the doc didn't test without as I told him I was a blind little bat. Still passed for a tiff though. :P

See when clever grl here got a pair of glasses? I had never had an eye test before and she said - read the letters on the wall. I askd, what, even if I screw up my eyes? she said, whatever. So I did and I got new glasses which I discovered were the same strength as my eyes were already - so I still had to screw up my eyes! dimmy! so eventually I dismantled them to retrieve the screws to fix my clarinet.

and I have never bothered with glasses since - but I can see fine!

Reading some of these threads I can't help but wonder when the first blind person applies to join the Forces under the equal opportunities act.

Do you speccys have to take your glasses off for the swimming pool tests? How do you see your way round without them? Isnt everything a big blur?

Contacts are okay.

There is a minimum uncorrected vision, but it's pretty bad ISTR. The right eye has a higher requirement (rifle shooting eye, I don't understand why, I shoot with the glasses on)

Yes, I took them off for the military swim test.
