I agree that as long as there is genuine benefit (not just commercial benefit) then I have no problem, as it's infinitely preferable to make an animal suffer than a person; particularly seeing as long term the number of beficiaries of the research will continue for rise indefinitely.

Most animals have the disdvantage of not being able to hold the pen right! However, I think it's wrong - I aint never seen a cat with lipstick on in the street!
If I could have any job in the world, I'd be an animal psycholoist/ behaviourist - because it's not us and them - they have thoughts and memories and feelings too and they tell them to us all the time cos they dont know how to hide it. So it's wrong - test stuff on animals if it's going to be an animal product!

I agree with Rob T on this. Some tests are probably required but others are not.
HOWEVER
Although I cannot stand some of the protesters and Ill tell you why....
I live close to the Huntingdon Life science centre.
Since living here and unbeknown to us my neighbour worked there? In what capacity I dont know? (not a cleaner)
I nearly had my house burnt down as a result of 2 incediary devices being placed on the nieghbours cars in the middle of the night.
By luck I woke up evacuated our house and managed to raise the other residents. TWo cars were destroyed, two houses were damaged and my wife and children couldnt sleep properly for weeks.
Oh and our pet car was was lucky to escape? work that one out?
Many times the protesters have been outside my neighbours house banging and shouting. Which in a quiet village culd e sac scares the shit out of my children and other residents children. Hence why I have been known to have a sense of humour failure along with other residents when they arrive.
So dont tell me they are doing the right thing!!! They can do it anywhere but if they turn up near my house. I wont be responsible for how I react!!!
and quiet personally I dont care, because they dont...

When I worked at a restaurant close to here, the place was booked up for a party who worked n animal testing and we had a phonecall that said at 10pm the place will go up - with you in it. we were like.... well, thanks? but it was all a big fib and no one left but the police came and all was clear and at 9.55pm I think everyone had to go to the loo.
I say 'close to here' but I forgot I am not in scotland anymore!

I can just see a dog lying there, on his little mat, thinking of the juicy bone he had the day before, and thinking, that guy`s a real Ba*"^rd, he could have got me a bigger bone the tight arse.
yep, I`d sooner them suffer than me when I want a paracetamol, test away
This is always going to be an emotive subject but in reality I can't see any other way round it. I must admit I don't agree with animal testing for all that cosmetics cr*p.
But as far as cures go - like cancer etc then I guess its just a necessary evil.
Thing is I bet half these animal activists woudn't be around without some of these tests being carried out.
Although to be honest I'd prefer to use kiddy fiddlers and the rest of the scum walking around these days - can't see that happening though.
