"Aylesham sunshine corner" a small and pretty grim coal mining village in Kent - also known as the Peoples Republic of Aylesham :o which has been fighting its own intifada against the 'establishment' since its birth in 1927 (when all the blacklisted miners from the General Strike ended up there). Joining the Corps gave me my sense of community and cameraderie back after Thatcher and the 'me generation' decimated this place in the '80's

Born in Kent near Biggin Hill RAF Station, had seven bells knocked out of us during the war. Called up for National Service and wound up in the Para's. Worked in Cinema's and Theatres as a Manager after that. Moved to Wimbledon for the next 30 years. Then I went and worked for London Transport as a Senior Manager, in all I have no complaints about my life
and I now live in a lovely spot over looking the English Channel were I retired to ten years ago.

I was born in St Mary's Maternity Hospital, Scotswood Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland which is the Geordie equivalent of the Bow Bells thing for Cockneys!

Raised in the mining town of Ashington, and shared a classroom with Bobby Charlton. (He did quite well too! )

Joined the Corps as soon as possible, and 'did' the world.

Now retired in Dorset; God's Waiting Room.

Aye, Derek
