Looking at the lower picture I can't help but wonder if it belonged to some form of youth group. Now the first picture, I can't help but wonder if the uniform was a photographers prop as this did go on even up to WW2. The Sword is far to long for the calavary also the strap holding it does not look right.

As Tab mentioned I think the top picture is a kind of set up.
As to the lower,it could be a guild uniform.
I don't think it would be a public school as it's too garish.
Any idea of the dates of the pictures and was your Grandpa in the service?

The first picture was from my greatgrandfather (as written at the back). I don't know the dates. My grandfather was born in the early 1910/1920 in Russia. So, my greatgrandfather was russian as well ...but he emigrated to Brazil with his newborn son (my grandfather). The picture may have been taken in Brazil or Russia. [Sorry, if this is a british forum, but I couldn't find anything elsewhere] but I have no idea when he was born.

For the second picture, There's no info or data. My grandfather had relatives in Poland, Romania and Germany ... It's really hard to know who this person was.

I'm sorry again, but I'm studying History in university and this is pure History ... The old ones in my family are either dead or not willing to mention their history ... so, what's left ? Asking on the internet ! haha

>> Thanks again !
