3rd week at ITC Catterick

Post by adamb »

Been here 3 weeks now, its alot different than i thought it was going to be. Disciplines very high, 3-5 room inspections a day, all that stuff. But i decided im going to DAOR, just got to wait until the 9th march wich is a bummer. Had intro ex 1 last week and it was awful lol, got paintballing and quad biking this sunday, battle PT on monday and then intro ex 2 on wednesday then parents day on saturday! For u guys who hav doubts, you have to do 28 days then wait 2 weeks for DAOR so think about it.

DOAR means Discharge As Of Right, basicly he found Army life did'nt suit him so he is opting out of training.

I'm surprised you're going to DOAR what will you do once you're out?
Anyway good luck with whatever you do.

Once you get into the Battalions life is a lot easier, the reason they make it tough and uncomfortable is weed out those with staying power.

Like Tab said mate, just crack on. My dad told me the first 6 weeks are the hardest, try and stick at it. Well what ever decision you chose mate, all the best

Adamb, stick to it. I remember you coming on this site keen for life in the army. You don't want to leave and then suddenly get the urge to come back. At least give it a couple more weeks before coming to a final desicion.

But if you decide it's not for you then all the best from me.

I agree with everyone adamb stick with it,

I quote you saying
I think the CIC will wake me up alot, im training but no matter how much I do I never feel like iv'e done enough. Ill just give 110% and dropping out isnt an option
So give it one more try man, you might regret it otherwise. But good luck with whatever you decide :)

Sticks at it fela, do you really want to leave and be stuck in a dead end job?
Plus the birds rather sleep with a soldier compared to a burger flipper lol.

Best of luck for your future.

Don't jack it mate. It gets better after week 6 apparently. Atleast wait till then, then decide if you want to daor. You've waited all this time and got so far in your application, that you want to throw in the towel as soon as it gets tough. Stick at it!

My mate is in the army atm, he said the first 6 weeks was worse than he could ever imagine, after that he is loving it. all they are doing is pushing and pushing seeing how far it takes for you to crack, keep at it and you will be surprised at how well you do.

from a purely logical point of view.... do you have a job to go back to if not what sort of work will be open to you? most people have the option of dole or a shitty dead end job that they hate just to pay the bills. now you need to choose a deadend shitty job you hate over sticking out a few more weeks of phase 1 training. trust me you will never regret staying for 3 more weeks to see what phase 2 is like.
