ADSC 8th of July
ADSC 8th of July
I've received my date for ADSC on the 8th of July.
Is anyone else on here going?
Is there anybody who can tell me what sort of timescale there is between being found suitable at ADSC to beginning phase 1 training? The AFCO lads were unsure.
Cheers Scott

Oh man, well looks like due to a "suspected" heart murmur i will be waiting another 2+ months to move onto phase 1 training obviously providing all goes ok at ADSC. Well having started the whole application in march got to say it's a bit of a wait. I hope i'm not the only who would think 7 months seems excessive and thats with 2 interviews done at the same time.

Its good to be eager, but I wouldnt worry too much about it - think of it as a couple of extra months worth of trainingsterion66 wrote:Oh man, well looks like due to a "suspected" heart murmur i will be waiting another 2+ months to move onto phase 1 training obviously providing all goes ok at ADSC. I've been training for almost a year now (i was very unfit to start with), so it can always be worse heh.
Hi lads,
I've been in the system, so to speak, since last December!
My first point of contact was with the Parachute Regiment recruiting team at Colchester, who loaded me onto the January insight course, It turned out I was the only one on the course who hadn't been reffered through their local AFCO.
One of the lads on the course had already been 5 months into the process, while for others things were moving quickly, around 5 weeks.
I went to the AFCO on returning home, hoping things would move swiftly.
Hurry up and wait, is a phrase I've beome familiar with!
It's taken around 6 months from filling in the initial application, then a pre ADSC test (because my AFCO didn't bother to get my report from the PARA recruiting team) to get a date for ADSC.
It's all good though as I've had a bit more time to prepare.
Bring it on!!!

Yea i guess i should see the positive side of things. For me training is hard though i have been at a fitness level to pass ADSC since the end of last year. I work shifts and i'm so tired before i even start training which makes it hard on the motivational side. Somedays i even struggle to get home for working alternate shifts. Only 2 more months i know just got to dig deep to keep on training. I guess what makes it harder aswell is i do it all on my own, so i have to push myself and i feel i have got to a point with work/lifestyle i am unable to push past my current level of fitness. Apologies for the rant!

Yeah Hal i guess we will be. I've been doing 3 mile runs 3 times a week which include either doing situps, pressups or pullups aswell. Also included swimming and cycling. Every now again i check up on my 1.5 mile time to make see i'm keeping my fitness level. I think maybe i should be doing some more core exercises though.

i don't do alot of core work even though i should be. this is the way i have been training for about 5 months.
M - 6 mile run, upper body circuit
T - 3 mile steady run, upper body circuit
W - rest
T - 8 mile steady run, upper body circuit
F - 1.5 mile test run, upper body circuit
S - 6 mile run, pullups
S - rest
my best time for the 1.5mile is 8mins 15secs

Nice, i have done 1 8 miler which i didn't find too hard took just under an hour.
Mon - 3 miler + pullups
Tue - 3 miler + situps
Wed - Rest
Thur - 3 miler + pressups
Fri - Swimming 45 mins
Sat - Cycling 45 mins
Sun - Rest
Thats my general routine although i will admit to missing days here and there due to being too tired and having to sleep instead. Best time 8 mins 31s for 1.5 mile.
